Idealul acela, de care mǎ prevalam de zor, era stero, formal, ipocrit, verbal, neadevǎrat.
Steinhardt nu îi înscria pe V. Pârvan, D. Botta, A. Dumitriu (şi nici pe ‘protocroniştii
tracici’) în descendenţa lui Hasdeu. Eliade aminteşte tocmai articolul lui
Hasdeu despre supravieţuirea dacilor; dar lipsa lui de calificare pentru a
discuta operele lui Hasdeu e flagrantǎ. Eliade nici nu avea
nesaţul ştiinţei, ci conştiinciozitatea ei.
